トム少佐は火星生物の存在を信じたか？～ボウイ逝く

学生時代には、アラディン・セインのメイクをして、ジギー・スターダストを歌ったりしました。

来日公演も、

• 1990年5月15日　Sound + Vision Tour @東京ドーム
• 2004年3月9日　A Reality Tour @日本武道館

の2回、目撃しています。

 

全てのロックンロールの中で決定的なイントロリフをひとつ選べと言われたら、私は迷わず「ジギー・スターダスト」を挙げます。

そして、同じく決定的なエンディングを選べと言われたら、「ア・デイ・イン・ザ・ライフ」か「ロックンロール・スーイサイド」を挙げるだろうと思います。

それぐらい、私の人生に、そしてロックの世界に、決定的な影響を与えた巨星。
それがデビッド・ボウイというアーティストでした。

 

その日は、上顎嚢胞の手術をして4日後、御茶ノ水の東京医科歯科大学病院歯科に入院中のことでした。
ヒマで病院食にいい加減飽きた私は、見舞いに来てくれた息子と外出していました。
御茶ノ水駅近傍の喫茶店でプリンなどつついて楽しくおしゃべりし、そろそろ帰ると言った息子を見送った、その帰りのことです。

デビッド・ボウイの訃報を知ったのは。

音もだちからのメッセが、スマホに着信したのでした。

何かリアリティがなく、スマホの画面を見ている自分を、斜め上から眺めているかのような、変な感覚。
聖橋が、急に「実体のないフワフワとしたモノ」に変容した感じ。

どう戻ったのか、よく覚えていないのだけど、まあともかく病院には戻ったようです。

気がつくと、休憩室でTVを観ていて、6pmのNHKのニュースでも伝えられていました。
ああ、やっぱり本当だったんだ。

ぼんやり焦点の定まらない脳みそでベッドに戻り、それから自分で編集したボウイのベストセレクションプレイリストを聴きだしました。

6hを超えるベストの再生が終わり夜が明けだした頃、漸く浅い眠りにつきました。
